SpaceX Plans $100 Billion Louisiana Starbase With Thousands of Starship Launches Annually
SpaceX plans a $100 billion launch campus in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, designed for extremely high Starship launch cadence.
Why it matters: If built to the announced scale, the Louisiana campus would become foundational infrastructure for SpaceX’s high-cadence Starship and Starlink ambitions.
SpaceX plans to invest $100 billion in a massive new Louisiana launch complex that state officials say will become the largest spaceport in the world. The Vermilion Parish facility is designed to support thousands of launches annually and is expected to include five launch complexes with two pads each, propellant infrastructure and employee housing. Construction is expected to begin by the end of 2027, with initial operations targeted for 2030. The project is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs and reflects SpaceX’s need for much larger launch infrastructure as Starship, Starlink and other missions scale.
