Moonshot AI Seeks Up to 30% of Kimi K3 Revenue in Microsoft, Amazon and Google Cloud Talks
Moonshot AI is reportedly negotiating revenue-sharing arrangements with Microsoft, Amazon and Google for hosting Kimi K3, seeking as much as 30% of related revenue.
Why it matters: The talks connect Chinese frontier-model economics directly to U.S. cloud distribution and could establish a new revenue-sharing model for hosted AI inference.
Chinese artificial-intelligence startup Moonshot AI is negotiating with Microsoft, Amazon and Google over potential revenue-sharing agreements that would make its Kimi K3 model more widely available through major U.S. cloud platforms. Moonshot is reportedly seeking as much as 30% of revenue generated by K3 on the platforms, with discussions covering billing, token auditing and data access. The talks remain at an early stage. Kimi K3 is positioned for coding, reasoning and long-horizon agent workloads, making third-party cloud distribution strategically important for developers that cannot operate very large models themselves. A successful agreement could establish a new model in which cloud platforms share inference revenue directly with model creators.
