Infineon Acquires C2i Semiconductors as AI Servers Push Power Delivery From Grid to Chip

Infineon Technologies · 2026-09-03

Infineon is acquiring C2i Semiconductors to expand its AI data-center power-management portfolio, including software-defined multiphase control and vertical power delivery.

Why it matters: Power-delivery architecture is becoming a critical AI-server constraint, giving Infineon a strategic entry into software-defined regulation closer to the processor.

Infineon Technologies is acquiring C2i Semiconductors as the semiconductor industry races to solve one of artificial intelligence’s less visible infrastructure constraints: delivering increasingly large amounts of power efficiently to AI processors. C2i develops software-defined multiphase power controllers and smart power stages designed for AI servers and high-performance computing systems. Financial terms were not disclosed and the transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026. C2i’s technology includes digital control, software and power semiconductors designed to adjust power conversion dynamically, as well as vertical power-delivery architectures that move voltage regulation closer to processors. Infineon plans to combine that technology with its silicon, silicon-carbide and gallium-nitride power portfolio.
