nVent Buys Maverick Power for $1.75 Billion as AI Turns Switchgear Into Strategic Infrastructure

nVent · 2026-09-03

nVent agreed to acquire Maverick Power for $1.75 billion, with up to $550 million of additional consideration tied to performance, expanding its data-center power-distribution portfolio.

Why it matters: The deal shows data-center power distribution becoming a strategic M&A category as AI campuses require larger, denser and more complex electrical systems.

nVent Electric has agreed to acquire Maverick Power for $1.75 billion as artificial-intelligence data centers drive growing demand for electrical distribution equipment. Maverick Power manufactures low- and medium-voltage switchgear, switchboards, integrated modular electrical systems and related infrastructure used in data centers. The company has approximately 900 employees in Texas and Arizona and is expected to generate about $700 million in revenue during 2026. The acquisition also includes the possibility of up to $550 million of additional payments if Maverick reaches specified performance targets during 2027 and 2028. nVent says the deal will expand its ability to provide complete power-distribution architectures for increasingly dense computing environments and expects the transaction to increase adjusted earnings per share during the first year after closing. The transaction illustrates how the AI infrastructure boom is increasing the strategic value of components far beyond GPUs. Switchgear, power distribution and cooling systems are becoming critical parts of the computing supply chain as individual AI campuses move toward hundreds of megawatts and increasingly complex electrical architectures.
