Google Gives Marvell Option to Buy $12.2 Billion Stake as Custom AI Chip Deal Targets $120 Billion in Revenue
Google expanded its custom-silicon relationship with Marvell and received warrants tied to long-term purchase thresholds.
Why it matters: Hyperscalers are diversifying custom-chip supply chains as inference becomes a larger share of AI infrastructure economics.
Marvell announced an expanded Google partnership covering custom silicon tied to Google’s TPU ecosystem, including inference accelerators, networking, storage and memory-related chips. Google received warrants for up to 58.97 million Marvell shares at $206.58 each, with vesting linked to product purchases. The structure could support roughly $120 billion in cumulative Marvell revenue through fiscal 2033 if purchase thresholds are reached.
