Meta Launches Muse Glimmer, Bringing Open-Weight AI Agents to a Single GPU

Meta has released Muse Glimmer, a compact artificial-intelligence model designed to run agentic workloads locally on consumer computers rather than requiring continuous access to a large cloud-computing cluster. The open-weight model can operate on a Mac or PC equipped with a single graphics card and is intended for tasks such as reasoning, coding and automated workflows. Meta developed Glimmer using distillation from the larger Muse Spark family and also plans to release the weights for Muse Spark 1.2. The move could reduce cloud-inference costs, keep sensitive workloads closer to corporate devices and give developers greater control over deployment. Meta also announced a $1 billion fund for communities affected by its expanding data-center footprint.
