Eaton Expands Medium-Voltage Switchgear Production for the AI Data-Center Boom

Eaton is expanding U.S. production of medium-voltage switchgear with a new manufacturing facility near Omaha, Nebraska. The company says the more than $30 million investment is intended to address accelerating demand from data centers, utilities and industrial power systems.
The 370,000-square-foot facility is expected to manufacture air-insulated and gas-insulated switchgear, with production scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027. Eaton says the equipment will also support prefabricated power systems designed for faster, repeatable data-center deployment.
The investment shows how AI capital spending is propagating beyond processors and servers into traditional electrical manufacturing. Medium-voltage switchgear, protection equipment and modular distribution systems are becoming strategic components of speed-to-power for new AI campuses.
