South Korean Groups Announce $950 Billion in AI Partnerships
Samsung Electronics and SK Group announced AI initiatives valued at a combined $950 billion during a South Korean technology summit, including major chip, memory and data-center partnerships with U.S. companies.
Why it matters: The agreements connect AI-chip supply with national industrial policy, energy capacity and hyperscale data-center construction.
South Korea has announced a broad package of AI partnerships involving Samsung Electronics, SK Group and major U.S. technology companies.
Reuters reported that SK Group agreements were valued at $750 billion, including a partnership between SK Hynix and Nvidia valued at more than $500 billion. Samsung separately announced a memorandum with Broadcom covering up to $200 billion in memory, foundry services and advanced packaging.
The plans also include a proposed two-gigawatt AI data center expected to use SK Hynix HBM4 memory and Nvidia Vera Rubin processors, with operations targeted for 2027.
The scale of the announcements demonstrates how governments and industrial groups are treating AI compute as strategic infrastructure. Memory supply, advanced packaging, power generation and data-center construction are now central to national technology policy.
