OpenAI Launches Health in ChatGPT for U.S. Users

OpenAI · 2026-07-23

OpenAI is rolling out Health in ChatGPT to U.S. users aged 18 and older on web and iOS, allowing people to connect supported medical records and Apple Health information for more contextual health conversations.

Why it matters: Connected health data turns a general chatbot into a more personalized product while materially increasing privacy, safety and regulatory obligations.

OpenAI has begun rolling out Health in ChatGPT to logged-in U.S. users aged 18 and older across Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans on web and iOS.

Users can choose to connect supported medical records and Apple Health data. With permission, ChatGPT can use information such as medications, lab results, recent visits, sleep and activity to explain changes, prepare questions and support more informed conversations.

OpenAI says connected health information and conversations that use it are not used to train its foundation models or target advertising. Access is permission-based, and users can manage connected accounts and decide when health context may be used.

The product is designed to support rather than replace professional medical care. Its launch moves consumer AI further into a regulated and highly sensitive category where reliability, privacy and escalation behavior are central product requirements.
